Epi Lasik
The original LASIK procedure used a cumbersome metal blade. This came with some inherit risks. Epi LASIK, on the other hand, utilizes a very fine plastic surgical blade. This educes problems with corneal flap issues, as it’s less intrusive. Less irritation and inflammation are benefits that also come with Epi Lasik.

IntraLase
The less evasive blade associated with Epi Lasik is outdone with Intralase eye surgery. IntraLase is bladless, so its moniker, All Laser LASIK, fits the bill. With IntraLase lasers do the work of blades used previously. This has a number of benefits over the older methods. More accuracy and less irritation are a real plus. IntraLasik can also remove the possibility of human error. On the contrary, some software errors can be a possibility. Light sensitivity has been a result in some patients. And much like new technology, Intralase does come at a price premium.

Custom LASIK
Custom LASIK has become the hot new LASIK procedure. This is for a number of reasons. The ability to due eye procedures that were not possible with other procedures is one. The other is the accuracy. Custom LASIK, also called wavefront LASIK, draws a three dimensional map of the entire eye. The results are plugged into the wavefront software. This mapping allows for a less evasive and accurate Custom LASIK procedure. But, just like IntraLase, the costs are substantially higher than traditional methods.
